    1965 trunk pan interchangeability

Post  TheHunted on Mon Sep 15, 2014 8:56 pm

Sup, im new here, i had a question, and noone had an answer, i might be buying a 65 lesabre 4 door hardtop, great body, solid interior floors, runs like a champ, dirt cheap, the only major problem is the trunk floor, its basically a colander, and so are the inner rearmost sides of the wheel houses and the body mounts just at the wheel houses, the owner told me impala parts will work, but goodmark told me they never heard of anyone using them on this model.

so, will 65 impala parts work on a 65 lesabre 4 door hardtop? Thankyou,

i know this side specifies its for 77-79 cars , but hey, it's worth a shot

Hi and welcome to the forum!
Your first question and it's a tough one!  The Impala and the Lesabre are both B-bodies so logic would say they'd interchange.  Have you tried googling it?

Hey welcome! I cant say for sure, but im 90% sure that would work. When GM made each specific model under Buick, Olds, Pontiac, Chevy and dealing with one particular chassis platform in this case the B-Body, they just did subtle cosmetic changes between B,O,P,C but deep structural parts were usually all the same, that would include body panels, the frame, etc. So i assume GM did this in the early days. This also saved them alot of money not having to re-tool between the models.

Thanks for the welcome, and replies, yes i figured the same thing, but' i'd hate to have to order parts just to find out they are wrong and have to send them back. 1 thing with the buick is that the fuel filler tube pokes through the trunk pan, kinda like a 1st gen camaro, the other thing is the general shape of the rear of the buick is "W" or "M" shaped i could always splice the repo and original trunk pans together, but i feel like still need more info.
