    77 impala rear bumper

    Post  neverdone77 on Sun Dec 14, 2014 11:20 am

In need of a 77 impala rear bumper, no strip no bumpers on existing one. needs to be as rust free as possible , chrome doesn't matter because its being shortened and then re chromed.  Please let me know if you have one or know where to get one, I went to the turkey rod run in Daytona this year but they weren't any bumper dealers there.

I can help. A good one with minimal pitting is $225+shipping.
    What's your zip code?

Shipping would be $99.89 for residential delivery.

If there is a business address I can ship to, it'll save you some $$$ on shipping.

Welcome to the Forum!! We definitely want to see pics after Sweet hooks you up and you get it shortened and re-chromed. I've thought of doing this myself as well as tucking them.

ive actually shortened the pair I have now as well as tucked them and they look great but the rear was too far gone inside for them to be able to repair and rechrome, the front is at the chrome shop now and I should get in back in about 3 months. Ill post some pics of the car very soon, there is actually a pic in the gallery already, bright yellow 2 door with pink trash can in the backround , cant miss it. Been working on this car for about 7 years and ive accomplished a lot but it never seems to be done.

    I'll send pics ASAP.

How did you release the pressure on the bumper shocks to tuck the bumpers in?

    VERY nice ride, btw!

Exactly what I was thinking too. Here I thought I was the only one who noticed the elusive pink trash can when this picture was first posted. I mean, it really caught my eye. How often do you see those pink? Okay, enough about the trash can, that Impala is so sweet!! Love the color combo!! This was the first car I saw with the bumpers narrowed & tucked. Very nice!!! Would love to see loads more pics of this car inside and out!!

Definitely appreciate the positive feed back guys, kind of depressing when you go to shows and no one has any idea what it is, or just doesn't care because it isn't a mustang or a Camaro. As far as the shocks go I just drilled a hole in them and repositioned tighter to the car (they just push right in) bumpers were shortened 1.5 inches on either side in the back and 1.25 in the front. The rear bumper I moved up as well as in to eliminate the broken plastic filler piece that breaks on all these cars. Ive got pictures galore so ill have to look into what it takes to load them on here (any help would be appreciated) Got the idea to shorten the bumpers and do a few other things like make the front clip one piece and also mold in the back plastic fillers because I wanted to make the car different than any others out there. Ive spent ALOT of hours working on this car trying to make it as nice as possible but as soon as you get one thing done it makes something else look bad so its back to the drawing board. Hoping to change over to protouring set up and make some more changes in the next few years.

Here's what I find to be the easiest way to post pics. It's done with pics stored on your computer or tablet.

It's the same whether you're creating a new topic, or replying to one.

Step 1) Click the "Host an Image button".

This will open an "Upload your image" box.

Step 2) Click the "Browse" button.

This opens a window allowing you to navigate to the pics you want to post.

Select a pic and click "Open.  (The window will close)
The path to the pic will now be displayed to the left of the "Browse" button.

Step 3) Click the "Host it" button.

The info in the box will now change to the 3 display options.

Step 4a) Highlight the text in the desired format, either Thumbnail or Image, then copy it.
Step 4b) Click the "upload" button.  The box will revert back to the "Upload your image" view.

Step 5) Paste the text in the body of your post.

    That's it! Very Happy

Very nice ride! I love it that no one knows what my car is, or that they dismiss it on first glance, but get really in to it when they look closer! Be proud that it is not a Mustang or a Camaro.

I attend a cruise night that is on every Thursday night in the summer months. The record this year at one night was 625 vehicles of some sort or another. There was one othe Caprice, an '85 four door painted like a General's car, and all the low rider hydraulics, and one '81 Pontiac Bonneville 4 door, which he had a tuned up 400 cubic inch monster stuffed in. Otherwise, I am almost always the ONLY '77 and up Caprice. Yeah, there are some 60's impalas, and two 60' Caprices. But nothing like mine.

Your yellowish dream boat is awesome.

LOL! I DIE inside a little every time I see this type of modification. At least they did not do it to a 2 door!

Yea, I just don't get the giant wheels either. I've seen a LOT of 2-door "donks" too. The '79 I bought had to be "de-donked" but it didn't have rims that big and there was no frame or body modification thankfully.
