I'm currently on a quest to replace all lighting in/on my Cruiser with leds. So far I've changed the dome, footwell and volt meter bulbs so far. I've got some on order for the rest of the dash and instrument panel Aand map lights. Just got the cornering lamp bulbs and plan on popping them in tomorrow. Question is, I haven't seen any obvious way to get the cover off. I don't wanna pry on it, and scratch the paint or break the trim...

I figured it out. There are two 13mm (might be 11mm) nuts holding the chrome frame to the fender. They are accessed from under the car, was pretty easy.

My next project will be to remove the defuser from inside the light housing.
